Mendelssohn’s passionate and romantic A minor quartet is unified by a theme taken from his song, “Is it true that you wait for me in the arbor?” Rounding out the program, joined by cellist Marcy Rosen, we have two works with two cellos: Arensky’s passionate quartet (violin, viola, two cellos) dedicated to the memory of Tchaikovsky, and a rarely-played and sparkling quintet by Boccherini.
