The Hamilton Hall
Ladies Lecture Series
The Ladies Committee is pleased to announce a Series of Lectures on World Affairs.
1946-2011
Sixty-fifth Series
Hamilton Hall Lectures
For the Benefit of
Hamilton Hall, Nine Chestnut Street, Salem, Massachusetts 01970
Started in 1944 by The Ladies Committee for the sole purpose of raising funds for Hamilton Hall, which after two World Wars and a depression, was much in need of repair and restoration.
In 1946, a series of weekly lectures on current events was organized. These lectures were very well received and successful and "added a great deal to the intellectual and social life of the community". In the mid 1970's, these lectures subtly shifted focus from current events to world affairs, and these lectures continue to this day.
Profit realized from these lectures is presented to Hamilton Hall, Inc., each year as a contribution toward the maintenance of the building.
Contributions from those interested in Hamilton Hall, but unable to attend the lectures, will be gratefully appreciated.
Admission by Series Ticket only (A portion of which is tax-deductable)
Lectures are held Thursday mornings with doors opening at 9:30
Followed by bouillon at 10:15 – a Hamilton Hall tradition.
Lectures begin at 11 a.m.
Please call or e-mail for more information, or to be included on our mailing list.
